Andrew Oliver on the water.

We had a chance to get out for a show with Lucky Strike pro staffer, Andrew Oliver and had a great day. The weather actually cooperated and we put 44 fish in the boat including four doubles. It has been a while since Andrew and I got to share a boat and it was fun catching up, the catching was fun too.
Andrew brought along a pair of Bolle sunglasses for me to try out and a Lucky Strike B4 Basket net which we also tried out for the day. It has rubber coated mesh so it is easy to get the hooks out as well as a telescopic handle when you need a little more reach. This would be an ideal net for kayak and canoe fishing because it takes up so little space and it would be an ideal backup net to throw in a rod locker for those days we forget or lose a net. Also I cannot emphasize enough how important a good pair of sunglasses are in the boat. They will protect your eyes from a lot more than the sun.
We were using a variety of soft plastics and hard baits and even with the really warm water I got some more nice Smallies on the Jackall Rerange 110 jerk bait. It is new to me this year but I am already loving it. I had it paired with a 270M Zodias rod, a CI4 reel and 10 lb mono.
All in all a fun day on the water and it should make a good show.DSC00868
