Backwater Casting is on a road trip and what is a road trip without some fishing. Here are a couple of beauties that fell for some soft stick baits. Largemouth bass certainly seem to put on a lot of weight around the belly compared to the smallmouth that we fish for at home. These fish were caught with the same basic tackle as I use at home. Shimano 2000 Stradic reel spooled with 20 lb Power Pro with a 15lb flourocarbon leader on a Crucial 6’6″ Medium Heavy rod. You don’t need big heavy rods and reels to enjoy a day on the water. Three days out on two different lakes and we put about 130 bass in the boat with the biggest one going a cool 6.95 lbs.That was a great fish but John is trying to beat last years personal best which came in at 8...

I just received some great news from Rogers TV NB. They are now airing Backwater Casting on Rogers On Demand and it is available across Canada for any Rogers subscribers.

Just got invited to participate via phone with the Goldhawk Live show being taped in Ottawa tonight and airing live on Rogers TV NB. Clips of the show have been sent to the Ottawa studio and they are going to phone me for some on the air questions. This one is live with no editing.

Another draw is behind us in our fishing photo draw. This month’s winner is Brad Donovan and he will receive a certificate from Interstate Batteries for a new Deep Cycle Battery. Congratulations Brad. Even though the winners are determined by random draw the pics were cute.

Just had an email from show producer, Shawn DeLong, that the Muskie show we did with Clark Rayner out of Woodstock has been edited. The tapes are off to Rogers studios in Moncton for final production. This one should air shortly on Rogers TV New Brunswick, Cable 10.

Christmas came a bit early at our house this year. The picture is me getting the keys to my new Oleary Buick GMC Sierra from Dennis Dickenson at the dealership. I wasn’t particularly looking for a new ride but they offerred me such a great deal on a 2011 Sierra that I couldn’t pass it up. I am looking forward to getting some miles on it and comparing the performance with the new six speed transmission. Just wish I could hook the boat up and take it on a fishing trip. A big thank you to Dennis and Aubrey for another great dealership experience and my new ride.

I used to have recurring issues with loosing battery power during a tournament day. We could never figure out why but the problem stopped three years ago when I rigged my boat with Interstate Deep Cycles. As a tournament angler this has been invaluable to me because I can fish hard all day and not worry about running out of power.
